Aqua Parcs to warm Willen Lake to 20 degrees

200 giant solar-panels have been shipped in from the US and due to arrive next week for heating to begin.

This year, visitors to the much-loved Aqua Parcs at Willen Lake will be able to bask in glorious warm waters as the leisure attraction is heating the lake to a tepid 20 degrees.

200 giant solar-panels have been shipped in from the US and due to arrive next week for heating to begin. It will then take 5 weeks to warm the South side of the lake to 20 degrees in time for the opening on Saturday 4 May.

Although Aqua Parcs is just as much fun in colder waters and averages 18 degrees throughout the year, the team are bringing the feel of summer early to visitors wanting warmer waters.

The solar panels are attached to underwater heaters that lay on the bottom of the lake directly below the 450-metre course. The energy-efficient system, designed by Polar Foil Ltd, is new to the country making it a UK first that will set the Milton Keynes water park apart from any other.

The panels will also heat the park’s showers and provide energy for the drinks fridges and mobile phone charging.

The thermostat-controlled heating can reach highs of 34 degrees, which Aqua Parcs is considering optimising for summer evening ‘Jacuzzi Nights’.

Kieron, Joint Owner of Aqua Parcs, said: “This will be a summer with a difference at Aqua Parcs and we can’t wait to get the park open this May. Heating the lake to 20 degrees almost seems unbelievable but technology has no boundaries these days. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the lake this season.”

Entry is from £22. Alternatively, Aqua Parcs super-fans can take advantage of an unmissable offer to get a season ticket from £50.00, giving them access to unlimited sessions throughout the summer 2023 season! All sessions include wetsuit hire, a safety briefing, a buoyancy aid and 50 minutes on the park.

Families, kids and adventurous thrill-seekers alike will all be able to take part in the inflatable water fun on the lake in total safety, thanks to Aqua Parcs’ stringent safety measures. Numbers on the park are strictly limited. The park has been split into sections, and visitors will move between them at allocated times within their session.
